Admission Information

Thank you for choosing Dar Al Shifa Hospital (DASH) for your treatment and care. If you are coming to DASH to be admitted as an inpatient, check in at Admission Office in the hospital's main lobby.

Be sure to bring with you:

  • Civil ID – Proof of Citizenship
  • Passport (in case you are a visitor to Kuwait)
  • Marriage certificate for pregnancy/delivering or maternal cases
  • Insurance card, if not self-payer
  • Referral letter or admission request from your doctor/referring physician
  • Laboratory and diagnostic reports, related to condition/current diagnosis (x-ray, MRI, etc.)
  • Medications that you are currently taking (in their original package) and current prescription, if any
  • Sleeping clothes and toiletries
  • More than one set of clothes for newborns (for delivering mothers) 

The staff nurse from your doctor’s clinic will contact the Admission Office to arrange admission requirements. The Admission Officer will then, confirm your details, advise you on any special requirements, provide an estimate of cost, insurance coverage and accommodation details.

Surgical Patients

On the night before surgery:

  • Take a shower and wear clean loose clothes.
  • DO NOT shave the area; Clip the hair if you have been instructed.
  • DO NOT: Use any creams, lotions, powder or deodorant in the area where your surgery will take place.
  • DO NOT:  Eat, drink or smoke after midnight.
  • Remove all jewelry, nail polish, hair clip and makeup before coming to the hospital.
  • Do not bring any unnecessary valuables with you to the Hospital.
  • Take your medications as prescribed by your doctor.

On the day of surgery:

  • If not admitted the night before, arrive at the hospital at least 3 hours prior to the time of surgery.
  • Bring all investigation reports, X-ray, CD (if any) and medication/s available with you.
  • Go directly to the Admission office /main reception in the Hospital main entrance.
  • Make arrangements for someone to stay with you in the room and take you home after discharge.
  • Inform the nurse about allergies, removable dentures, and contact lenses, hearing aids …. etc.
