Life Support Training Courses
The Life Support Trainings at Dar Al Shifa Hospital
(DASH) were established in 2008 in affiliation with the American Heart
Association (AHA).
The facility offers a wide range of life support trainings to both ,health care providers and to the community.
Our courses include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Electrocardiogram and Pharmacology, Family and Friends Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Neonatal resusscitation program (NRP) and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED.
These programs were designed to support professional development and formed the foundation for expanding the scope of our training services. In 2015, the hospital affiliated with the American Academy of Family Physicians, becoming the only authorized facility in Kuwait to deliver Basic Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO) and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO).
All courses are designed and delivered using a hands-on, video-based, and highly interactive training approach that enhances participants’ knowledge and practical skills.
Our Training Labs are fully equipped and carefully structured to provide a simulated learning environment tailored to the specific objectives of each course.
Every program is led by skilled and experienced instructors who are committed to sharing their expertise. Training can be conducted either in our dedicated labs or at the participants’ premises for maximum convenience.
Heart saver First Aid CPR AED
Description
This course is designed for people who may have to respond to and manage a
first aid or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until
emergency medical services arrive.
Audience
This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a
course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use.

Basic Life Support (BLS)
Description
BLS is a video-based, instructor-led course that is designed to provide a
wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several
life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an Automated External
Defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective
manner.
Audience
This course is for all healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses,
technicians, and paramedical staff.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Description
ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the
importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate
post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related
pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and
small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are
presented.
Audience
This course is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in
the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies.
These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive
care and critical care units.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Description
PALS is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of
simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a
systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment
algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of PALS course
is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured infants
and children, resulting in improved outcomes.
Audience
This course is for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants
and children. These include pediatricians, emergency physicians, intensive care
and critical care staff and respiratory therapists

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
Description
The ATLS course is designed to equip healthcare providers with a systematic, standardized approach to the early assessment and management of trauma patients. It focuses on rapid identification and treatment of life-threatening injuries, prioritization of care, and effective team communication during trauma emergencies.
Audience
The ATLS curriculum is designed for physicians, medical officers, emergency medicine trainees, surgical residents, and other healthcare professionals involved in the initial management of trauma patients. It may also benefit senior medical, nursing, and physician assistant students with trauma care responsibilities.

NRP – Neonatal resuscitation Program
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®) course conveys an
evidence-based approach to care of the newborn at birth and facilitates
effective team-based care for healthcare professionals who care for newborns at
the time of delivery. NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes
online testing and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on
critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.

ECG & Pharmacology
Description
This classroom-based, Facilitator-led course is designed to improve
electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for
treating cardiovascular emergencies.
Audience
This course is for healthcare professionals who participate in the management
of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes
personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and
critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, and others who
require this specialized knowledge for their job.

Basic Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO)
Description
BLSO course is designed to equip first responders with the skills needed to
assist in normal and emergency obstetric situations.
Audience
The BLSO curriculum is designed to train pre-hospital care providers, first
responders and emergency personnel, medical, nursing, and physician assistant
students.

Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO)
Description
ALSO is an evidence-based multidisciplinary training program that prepares
maternity health care providers to better manage obstetric emergencies. ALSO's
evidence-based learning path bridges knowledge gaps and boosts skill sets using
a team-based approach, hands-on training, and mnemonics to reduce errors and
save lives.
Audience
ALSO Courses are designed for maternity care providers, including physicians,
nurses, and other clinicians.
